East Grand Rapids, Michigan
Architectural
Remodeling of existing space into new offices for East Grand Rapids' Public Safety. The original 10,000 s.f. building was 30 years old and had been designed for separate police and fire facilities. Additional space was required beyond the original building footprint, so the functions of locker/shower rooms, evidence storage, and vehicle parking were designed into a contiguous concrete framed structure that had previously served as a water reservoir. Openings were cut into the concrete walls to provide vehicle access and building exiting. The project involved total replacement of the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. New systems for phone, cabling, security and County connected dispatch were also installed. The final building provides a community friendly, yet secure public safety facility.
