Design Program:
Electrical Scope:
Lighting/Power/Security System: The lighting system utilized indirect and direct lighting fixtures that are interlinked with occupancy sensors that provide an energy efficient building at 277 volts. The occupancy sensors also furnish control for mechanical HVAC equipment for minimizing usage. The security system includes fixed cameras at strategic locations with video monitoring and tape backup system and also incorporates magnetic card readers and automatic locking features for authorized entry. Power utilizes a 277/480 volt system with step down transformers to furnish 120/280 volt distribution for receptacle needs, a stand by generator was designed to furnish emergency power for lighting, elevator, and selective receptacles for communications equipment. Design included coordination with structured cabling system, which included cable tray through corridors and telecomm closures, proper pathway sizing, and a grounding system for proper telecommunication closets.
Mechanical Scope:
Plumbing/HVAC/Fire Protection: The plumbing system included gas water heater, gang toilets, science room sinks, storm drainage and a snow melt system. The HVAC system included hot water boilers, air cooled chiller, two 24,000 cfm variable air volume units, air to air recovery for each VAV unit, medium pressure duct systems, medium pressure duct system, terminal box with reheat, motion detector room thermostats.
