Story

The Owner/Developer of the United Building has an established strong and          continuous commitment to renovate abandoned or underutilized downtown properties.  Renovation of the United Building consisted of the adaptive reuse of an abandoned, two-story manufacturing facility, with the projected use to be general office lease space.  Prior to renovation, the United Building had a beautifully detailed facade fronting on Kalamazoo Avenue while the remainder of the building consisted of deteriorated stucco over concrete block, which had been covered by metal siding. Major exterior and interior renovations were specified including; the removal of main structural members, replacement of an existing exterior wall, installation of a new brick masonry brick façade to complement the adjacent brick facades, replacement of the roof membrane, replacement of all original windows and doors, and the  addition of (4) restrooms, (3) new stairwells, and replacement of the entire mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems throughout the building.
