Story

Design Program: This project arose from a need to unify, expand, and streamline operations for a medical-device manufacturing company that was operating out of two separate, overcrowded existing buildings miles apart from each other. A design concept evolved utilizing a straight flow-through   process for the delivery of raw materials, their fabrication and assembly, packaging and shipping. The new facility fully integrates corporate office support within the manufacturing facility, with areas for research and development, product design, sales showroom and administration.

Design Challenges: Understanding their manufacturing process was a key challenge that we conquered in order to design the mechanical and electrical systems. The systems were designed for their existing and new assembly equipment, including special process piping for the distribution of oxygen and C02. Being able to sum and project their power consumption requirements and work with the utility provider to meet these needs was also a challenge that we conquered. Noise control in a building of this size due to the openness of both the manufacturing and office areas was also addressed.
