Design Program: The Palmer Elementary project is a moderate renovation of the existing 34,000 square foot building, where the essential qualities of a well built and well maintained facility will be utilized, along with the addition of a multipurpose room, a boiler room, storage area and service entrance. This project also includes site redevelopment, which will include the playground area along with the schools main entrance and service entrance area.
Design Challenges: Because Palmer Elementary is the center of one of Grand Rapids older neighborhoods, the school is a big part of that community and the design of the renovation will reflect the needs of the students and the very supportive people who live around it.
