Design Program: An automotive supplier manufacturing facility and two-story support offices. The facility includes an automotive lighting plant, an electronics plant, and an area for injection molding. Dedicated production areas focus on the painting and coating of components, the assembly of the lighting components, and fabrication of electrical components for integration into automobile climate control systems. The original building was completed in 1988 with additions in 1991 and 2005.
Design Challenges: Master planning of the once vacant land included sizing incoming utility services to allow for future growth. The manufacturing system included process chilled water and compressed air distribution. Both the office and the manufacturing facility space included a complete energy management system. Electrically the challenge was to provide the right voltage of energy to the manufacturing equipment which was shipped from Japan. A major design challenge was the assisting of the equipment layout and utility requirements of the manufacturing processes of the various plants within the facility.
