Design Program:  In an effort to update the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Station #6, which is located on the corner of Oakland Drive and Howard Street, renovations to the main floor of the facility were done which included the addition of central air conditioning, upgrading the kitchen area, a weight room, briefing room and an office. An addition of a second story was designed to house      separate sleeping quarters, along with separate bathroom facilities for the male and female Public Safety Officers and Firefighters who were stationed at that location.

Design Challenges:  The biggest challenge of this project was to develop a design plan that would not interfere with the day to day operations of the Public Safety Department Station. The truck bays and cement apron had to remain clear at all times in case of emergencies.
