Design Program: The first floor of Building 84 had been unoccupied and required upgrades before it was able to be occupied again. The upgrades that were done include: converting a plenum return system to ducted return, adding medical headwalls to twenty patient rooms, relocating the nurses station to a central location, and the creation of two infectious isolation rooms.
Design Challenges: New return duct needed to be routed through the existing ceiling spaces while avoiding or relocating any obstacles. The isolation rooms required dedicated exhaust fans with room pressure monitoring controls.
