Architectural
Adapted from a dilapidated warehouse, this new Circuit Courthouse provides a calming, peaceful, and dignified court experience, and helps bring justice to cases of domestic violence.
To maximize use of the site and orient the Courthouse toward the city center, the building’s rear was repositioned to become the front, requiring the integration of the existing masonry with a new façade. Rather than simply clad the façade in matching bricks, a new wall, covered with a terra-cotta tile and aluminum panel system employing state-of-the-art rain screen technology, was secured with trusses 16 feet in front of the facility. Placement of the new façade in front of the existing building creates a 300 feet long atrium lobby soaring sixty feet in height.
