Architectural

Story

The Chicago tradition of innovation in tall building design advances with this 48-unit condominium tower. A pair of shafts - one of floor to ceiling glass living areas, the other of perforated concrete housing bedrooms - join together in a dynamic sculptural form. Standard steel I-beams are used to form the floor slabs, protecting the concrete and providing a precise setting for the glass walls. Simple, punched windows contrast in the bedroom shaft, creating contained, intimate bedrooms.

Outdoor living spaces open up on three sides for each of the two units per floor. The contrast of open views of the cityscape with the defined, private rooms extends the quality of urban living.
