Story

This facility is a new 83,000+ SF new academic building on GVSU’s Allendale Campus, adjacent to the existing Mackinac Hall. Designed as a LEED project, the new facility will house classrooms, case rooms, student study areas, faculty offices, academic department offices, conference rooms, work/file rooms, GIS lab, gathering spaces, IT, and other support spaces. The close proximity of the classrooms and lecture rooms to the mechanical equipment room caused concerns that noise and vibration could disrupt teaching activities. Acoustics By Design was retained to review the noise isolation between the mechanical equipment room and classrooms and provide recommendations for noise control. The project is currently under construction with anticipated completion in August of 2008, and an estimated construction budget of $13,200,000.
