Story

The task of constructing six retail food outlets in essentially three months was both challenging and daunting.  With obstacles abound such as subsurface ledge, material delivery and handling restrictions, work space constraints and a completion date attenuated to a point of near impossibility, it would be almost trite, to say this project was challenging.  The project more than challenged a company that prides itself on delivering a quality project on time and within budget.  The concept of "whatever it takes" took on a new meaning.  It meant that all paperwork or customary forms of conducting business were essentially thrown out the window.  It meant that owner and field changes were adopted on the spot with the architect and the owner in a spirit of "time is of the essence."  It meant working sixteen to twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.  It meant a total commitment of financial and labor resources.  In some respects, the project mirrored the design concept as a throwback to a time when things were done on verbal direction and an understanding and confidence that the ubiquitous financial issues would be worked out at the end.  All State's subcontractors' were also committed to this process and never balked when given direction to proceed.
