Sault Saint Marie U.S. Land Port of Entry

Story

In March of 2010 Frederick Construction was awarded the contract for replacement of the existing vegetated roof at the Sault Sainte Marie Border Station. The scope of work included removal of the existing vegetated roof, installation of 44 new structural stub columns supports for the soil confinement system, installation of a new 80 mil PVC membrane roof system and related flashing, installation of the drip irrigation system, and installation of the soil confinement and green roof system. Our company was responsible for site management, site safety, subcontract administration, security background processing, and shop drawing compliance. Due to the security requirements of the Border Patrol, all on site employees were required to pass the homeland background review. The Border Station operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Frederick Construction developed and administered a site specific work and safety plan that prevented all hazards to the Border Patrol, general public, and construction employees. This project was completed on time and with in budget.
