In our ever increasing global market, Bissell, an internationally acclaimed cleaning product company, found the need for a jet with worldwide capabilities. In order to house this jet, there current lease space was not going to be big enough and it became apparent that a new hangar was needed. The new hangar was designed to not only house Bissell’s two jets, but also to be a greeting point for incoming clients. The corporate area of the hangar contains a kitchen, a relaxing lounging area with a fireplace, as well as a small office space or for business meetings. Wolverine Building and Century A&E were hired to design and construct the building, emphasizing a great amount of time spent on the details. The hangar not only needed to be functional, but also well thought out with attention to the smallest of details on the high-end finishes of the building. The corporate area is adorned with very stylish finishes and fixtures that include ceramic tile floors, granite countertops, Paldao doors, glass walls, and custom cabinets. The space was designed with floor to ceiling windows that curve around allowing in an abundance of natural light as well as offer amazing views to overlook the airport runways. Lauren James Studio oversaw the interior design creating a unique, comfortable, and classy space through critically evaluating every selection of furniture, finishes, and fixtures. The hangar portion of the building also has highlighted features, being lined with a white metal liner panel with all of the steel being painted. These in conjunction with the glossy white floor make for a very clean, bright environment to store and maintain the jets. The building is also equipped with a sophisticated Crestron control system that communicates directly to many of the building management systems. The Crestron system controls everything from the video/audio, blinds and shades, HVAC, and fireplace, and can all be activated remotely.
