Spectrum Health Blodget Inpatient Facility

Story

With a goal of “revitalizing the facility as a leading community and teaching hospital” while preparing for growing numbers of patients, The Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus Expansion incorporated 132 private patient rooms in a 150,000 square foot addition. The project also provided new state-of-the-art operating rooms featuring advanced technology, equipment and communication systems. The renovation also included a 36-bed post-anesthesia care unit, or PACU – one of the largest in the country – along with six nursing units renovated to allow for better patient interaction and monitoring, remodeled public and service areas including building lobbies, a rehabilitation room with a wall of windows overlooking the picturesque Fisk Lake neighborhood and a peaceful healing garden. In keeping with Spectrum Health’s commitment to green initiatives, several innovative energy, heating, cooling and storage improvements are expected to save hundreds of thousands of dollars in energy costs each year.
