Johnson Controls

Story

Design: Wolverine Building Group Contract: Design/Build Budget: $368,000 Supervision: Adam Tuffs, Project Manager and Mark Bauman, Superintendent The newly renovated JCI Southview facility consists of approximately 35,000 square feet of architectural standing seam roof panel installed over the existing Kalwall system. The work performed involved installing an Ice & Water Shield (Metal and Tile underlayment) over the entire Kalwall system to form a protective water tight barrier. Metal hat channels were then installed over each radius to form an anchoring point for the new roof panels. Architectural roof panels had to be radius formed on site by Wolverine Building to insure a proper fit to each individual radius section. Custom flashings and unique transitions are visible throughout the entire project. Wolverine Building needed to design a cost effective solution to the on going problem of water leaking through the existing Kalwall panel system. The Kalwall that was in place was over 20 years old and could no longer be coated or resurfaced. Wolverine wanted to design a system that would not only fix the water problem, but also preserve the aesthetically pleasing look that the Kalwall system provided. The result was a standing seam metal roof panel that not only gives the appearance of Kalwall, but also the assurance of a water tight seal for many years to come. This solution saved the owner a great deal of money that they are now able to use on other improvements throughout the facility.
