Wege Guest House is located where cancer patients need it most - in Downtown Grand Rapids, near the Saint Mary’s Lacks Cancer Center. Built on a lot donated by the Saint Mary’s Cancer Center, the new 38,000 sq ft Hope Lodge offers out-of-town cancer patients and their caregivers a place to stay and take part in vital social services while they receive advanced health care services at local institutions. The first floor of Hope Lodge houses the American Cancer Society’s regional offices and conference rooms. The second and fourth floors feature 20 guest suites for visiting patients, leaving the third floor for multiple prep station kitchens, a grand dinning room, a cancer research library, meditation and fitness rooms. The Hope Lodge was designed by Design Plus, Inc. as a LEED Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) facility in accordance with the United States Green Building Council. Using the experience of prior LEED projects, Triangle played an active role in the LEED Certification process through documentation, recycling construction waste into multiple material categories and implementing numerous value engineering methods throughout this project. The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, Peter M. Wege Guest House one of 26 Hope Lodge facilities in the United States, the first Hope Lodge in Michigan and the first in the country to become LEED Certified.
