Work on the Symga Central Florida project was started on the 116,500 sq ft Dry Side warehouse while the floor and loading dock were demolished for the new installation. The Dry Side Warehouse required new emergency lights, high bay LEDs, and occupancy sensors. We also installed [2] new 400 amp services for [40] battery chargers for the owners fork lifts. We installed power to new roll up doors and dock levelers at the Dry Side loading dock.
The 88,100 sq ft Cold Side warehouse included a Cold Dock, Coolers, and Freezers. The coolers and the freezers were designed at different temperatures based on the type of storage. The temperatures ranged from 55 degrees to minus 15 degrees. The Cold Side included lighting, controls, and Refrigeration equipment.
This project also included a remodel/buildout of the 15,000 square foot office building. This included new conference rooms, break rooms, and a lighting upgrade.
The project required an upgrade on the power to the building. The existing service was 1600 amps for the entire building. The new project required an additional 3000 amps to be added for the new refrigeration equipment. This addition included a new 1600 automatic transfer switch for the existing service and a new 3000 amp manual transfer switch for the new service. The 3000 amp service powered new condenser racks and evaporators at the coolers and the freezer. An additional Duke Energy Utility transformer was added adjacent to the existing utility transformer to power this project.
One of the major issues with this project was that the owner occupied the Dry Side warehouse before we were complete with the Cold Side warehouse. This involved extensive planning and coordinating with the owner to schedule shut downs so as not to affect their operations.
