Narrative

Located in Orlando Florida, this new hotel is one of Disney’s newest and lavish hotels. It is designed in a Mediterranean style and named Disney Rivera Resort.

With the lush gardens and beautiful setting this hotel really stands out. As Mediterranean style started peaking in popularity during the 1920s and 1930s, the movement drew heavily on the style of palaces and seaside villas and applied them to the rapidly expanding coastal resorts of Florida and California. Fast forward to 2020 and Disney is bringing that European / Mediterranean style back.

Structures are typically based on a rectangular floor plan,and feature massive, symmetrical primary façades. Stucco walls, tiled roofs, windows in the shape of arches or circles, wood or wrought iron balconies with window grilles, and articulated door surrounds are characteristic. 

For this project P&A Roofing was awarded the contract for the roofing systems.

As you can see from the picture above the roofs are very vertical as well as decorative in design. With four different roofing systems to be installed this was a large project for P&A Roofing. The total cost of our part, the roofing of this contract totaled $3,539,700.00.

The project started May 2018 and took approximately a year and a half (09/2019) to complete. There are four different roof types on this roof.You have the Modified Bituminous Roofing, Asphalt Shingles, Standing Steam Metal Roofing and the Vegetative Roofing.

Because of the height and vertical 10/12 to 12/12 pitch in some areas safety was very important to our company as well as the General Contractor PCL Construction. Some of the Modified Bituminous roof was flown into place allowing our workers to stay off the most dangerous areas. Tie downs were required on every part of this installation.

The pictures above show our technician tied off even on the Modified Bituminous roof. As Disney capture’s the Magic of Europe with the Mediterranean style P&A Roofing wants to do the best job possible for our client to add to the Magic.

The Asphalt shingles seen below add to the Mediterranean style of the building.

With the unique 4 different roofing styles being installed while the park was still open P&A Roofing took special care to insure safety for the Park guest, Employees as well as our technicians.
