NarrativeWelcome to Coronado Springs Resort! This contemporary andOld Word Spanish style hotel is one of Disney’s latest re-thought hotels. This 15 Story tower features 223,000 square feet of meetingspace and rooms for guest convenience. Balfour Beatty was awarded the contractto revamp this area of the Disney resort. P&A Roofing was awarded the roofingcontract totaling $2,300,000.00 for the roof. The roof has several different types of roofing installed. Modified Bitumen, metal, composite metal soffit panels, sheet metal flashing and trim and acoustical insulation. As you can see from the picture above these roofs containedseveral round domes and an extended radius standard seam Vaulted Barrel Roofwhich you can see an in-progress picture of below. Being 15 plus stories highmeans safety is of the upmost importance. You will also see in the picture belowthat our crews were tied-off the complete time that they worked on this uniqueroof. The Domes on both side of the tower are wrapped in cooper metal and really shine in the sun light. This also lends itself to the Old World Spanish feel of the resort. You can see the in-progress dome in the back of this picture above before it was completed with the cooper finish. The towers roofing system extends to the bus loop, the Villade Lago, boardwalks and Guard shack. This project started on 05/2018 and was completed 08/2019. This project was started and finished with the park still open. We accommodated our client with 2nd and 3rd shifts to minimize contact with the Disney guest and staff.Due to the integrate metal work and edge work on this beautiful building with the round Domes and Vaulted Barrel Roof which you can see from the inside of the building giving it that grand facade as well as meeting the timeline and budget for this project I feel it should be considered for the Eagle Award.
