Halifax Health Medical Center Deltona

Story

To servethe full range of healthcare needs for patients in western Volusia County,Halifax Health opened a new 90-bed acute care hospital in Deltona, Florida, in January2020. The $79 million project includes a new 196,000-square-foot patient bedtower, built as an integrated addition to Halifax Health’s existing emergency department,and renovations to the existing building and infrastructure.

 

Asconstruction manager, Robins & Morton led project preconstruction and constructionservices, closely collaborating with the owner Halifax Health, architect HKS, programmanager Adams Management Services Corporation, and a team of skilled trade contractors.The building team included 4,236 onsite workers, all hired from within Volusiaor surrounding counties.

 


The six-storypatient tower, designed with input from Halifax clinical staff, includes:

·       Fouroperating rooms in the surgery center

·       30medical/surgical rooms

·      13 intensive care rooms

·      Three multipurpose special procedurerooms

·      A comprehensive imaging center includingMRI, CT, X-ray, mammography, and ultrasound

 

Tomeet the fixed schedule of the client, the project was designed and builtwithin an accelerated 24-month schedule. The team completed the hospitalproject on budget, and the new facility opened ahead of schedule in 2020.
