Story

The Public Safety Academy of Northeast Indiana is 132,000 square feet of joint-use training and educational space. With a motto to “Train, Educate, and Innovate”, the facility is designed to deliver regional public safety training to current and future first responders through innovative training environments and cutting edge audio visual and videoconferencing technology.

A consortium of five educational institutions with programs ranging from vocational high school to masters degrees educate future public safety leaders in the facility’s unique learning environments. Nineteen classrooms feature projection systems with custom lecterns including laptop connectivity and keypad controls to provide instructors an intuitive teaching environment. Five rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art distance learning systems allowing instruction and expert input from specialists.

A 290-seat auditorium features presentation, recording, voice reinforcement, and videoconferencing functionality. This space is ideal for lectures, large training delivery opportunities and community use.

The Studio and Production Room features recording, editing, and streaming capabilities. Content ranging from public addresses from government leaders to public safety training modules may be expertly recorded and shared via a link on the Academy’s website.

The Planning Room can be utilized as an Emergency Operations Center. The space features a U-shaped table with 12 pop-ups for laptop connectivity from any of the seats to display information onto the projection screen. The system’s processing capacity allows the screen to split into four sections. Ultimate flexibility can be achieved by displaying additional content on any of the four 42” LCD screens in the room.
