Two Safety Management Group associates have assisted a well-known contractor during their important phase of a large casino construction project in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Revel Entertainment's Casino project will encompass two large towers, the tallest in Atlantic City, with almost 2,000 rooms each and a large casino exceeding 168,000 square feet. The $2.5 billion project will include the creation of Revel Beach, a sandy area at the far corner of the complex next to the boardwalk that will feature a nightclub, retail space and dining options. Additionally, a 5,000-seat event center and another 600-seat theater as well as a spa and fitness center with indoor and outdoor swimming pools will be part of the complex expected to open in 2010.
Berkel and Company is a well-established national contractor specializing in Auger Pressure Grouted (AGP) piles and Auger Pressure Grouted Displacement (APGD) Piles for the construction industry. Their services were especially useful for the Atlantic City project due to its close proximity to the ocean.
The piles installed by Berkel (approximately 8,000 on this project) ensure the weight of the complex is properly supported to prevent the casino from sinking into the Atlantic.
Berkel contacted Safety Management Group to help them with the completion of their phase of the project. Berkel's dedication to contractor safety will be an important factor as they continue to bid and perform work at Atlantic City and elsewhere. Currently, there are plans over the next three years for US$20 billion worth of casino, hotel, restaurant and retail construction and renovation projects in the Atlantic City area.
