Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center

Florence, Kentucky

Architectural

Story

The only center of its kind in Northern Kentucky, this outpatient facility is specifically for children who are victims of sexual abuse.  With a residential exterior, the center is warm and inviting, creating a relatable atmosphere for patients and their families.  The center is designed to assist in healing, prevention and protection.  Included are interview, observation, therapy and family meeting rooms designed for comfort and healing.  Medical examination rooms, as well as law enforcement and attorneys’ offices, ensure the physical safety of the children.

Green design is implemented through building orientation.  Additionally, the use of light shelves and clerestory windows allows significant daylight to enter the building, which enables the center to reduce its overall energy costs.
