The interior finishes consist of a wood-paneled lobby, luxurious library, deluxe lounge with kitchen and dining areas, state-of-the-art fitness center, secure in-building parking, and a gorgeous, park-like garden area on the roof complete with benches, scenic walkways, fountain, gas grills, and a custom-made spa to truly elevate the concept of outdoor living. D.C. Byers Company/Grand Rapids, Inc. repaired and cleaned the exterior masonry (brick, limestone and terra cotta).

Union Square Condominiums - Grand Rapids Completed

This new property is the old Union High School, more recently known as West Middle School, and has undergone a swift and amazing transformation.  The Union Square property is historically significant to many people.  It was Grand Rapids’ main high school from 1875 to 1968 and this history will remain part of it’s charm.  Reminders will include the original double banister stairways, 12 to 21 foot ceilings, hardwood maple flooring, and 12-inch oak windowsills.  Genuine slate chalkboards, fire drill instructions, trophy cases, school furniture, and some of the old light fixtures will help reinforce the school motif throughout the public areas of the building, and even in some condominiums.  D.C. Byers Company/Grand Rapids, Inc. cleaned, re-pointed and replaced brick at Union Square.

Grand Rapids Public Schools - Harrison Park Middle School Completed

Harrison Park Elementary and Harrison Park Middle Schools occupy a single circa 1925 building at 1440 Davis NW. They re-opened the renovated elementary school portion last year. This year marks the completion of the middle school. The elementary and middle schools occupy either end of the renovated building, with common areas and administrative offices situated between them. D.C. Byers Company/Grand Rapids, Inc. crews were able to retain the building's historic charm by rebuilding the deteriorating terra cotta buttresses and crafting new molds to replace terra cotta that could not be saved. D.C. Byers also prepped the foundation walls for the new addition, sealed all construction joints and stained limestone walls to retain the look and feel of the original building.
