Story

Driesenga & Associates’ was responsible for site design engineering including modifications to the existing municipal utilities, private utility coordination, and access management. Topographical and boundary surveys, for preliminary design and land division, were also provided. Further surveying services include construction staking during all stages of development. Materials testing included completing full time masonry, concrete, foundation, field geotechnical, steel fabrication, erection and reinforcement verification. A Geotechnical evaluation included performing soil borings in low-overhead conditions inside the previous parking structure. Auger-cast piles were recommended for support of the parking structure and shallow, spread footings were recommended for the remainder of the structure. An urban Brownfield redevelopment project in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan on 3+ acres. This site originally consisted of a decaying two story parking garage and surrounding commercial sites. The site is being redeveloped to include a 14-plex movie theatre, a new 500 space parking garage, commercial retail space, and residential condos.
