Civil-Engineering
This project consisted of providing a large area for a helistop on a sloping site. This required the removal of an obsolete clinic building, reconfiguration of parking and site utilities, and installation of a significant retaining wall, while adhering to FAA guidelines. Driesenga and Associates (D&A) provided survey, civil engineering construction management and landscape architectural services. D&A served as consultant to the North Ottawa Community Hospital, architect, structural engineer, and air ambulance service to design and implement campus improvements including a 12-foot retaining wall, partial clinic demolition, parking and storm drainage improvements and a helistop at a fully functioning regional hospital. D&A worked closely with the owner during coordination with municipal and federal agencies.
