Mid Towne Village

Grand Rapids, Michigan

Civil-Engineering

Story

A City of Grand Rapids mixed use urban redevelopment project which required the removal of approximately 40 homes and vacation of public right-of-way for three City streets to prepare for the five building sites offering general office, medical office, retail and residential space. Collectively the structures total approximately 270,000 square feet of building space in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Driesenga & Associates, Inc. conducted a boundary/topographic survey, prepared right of way vacation and plat amendment documents, performed geotechnical soils and environmental investigations, and prepared plans for general site layouts, reconstructing city streets and utilities, and determining storm water management requirements. The project was one of the first sites approved by the City of Grand Rapids utilizing the Planned Redevelopment District (PRD) zoning laws and was designed in accordance with City of Grand Rapids Standard Specifications for Construction. The infrastructure improvements were partially funded through the use of Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) funds.
