Mercury Drive

Grand Haven, Michigan

Civil-Engineering

Story

This project consisted of the complete design engineering for a MDOT Local Agency Programs road reconstruction project. Roadwork included approximately 1 mile of total reconstruction including grading, storm sewer and appurtenances, concrete curb and gutter and hot mix asphalt paving from the Grand Haven City limits to Robbins Road in Grand Haven Township, Ottawa County. Driesenga & Associates, Inc. provided design and preparation of the construction drawings and special provisions, in compliance with AASHTO and MDOT standards, specifications and procedures. Design included modifications of the existing vertical curves, satisfying AASHTO and MDOT design speed requirements, along with hydraulic analysis, using Hydraflow Storm Sewers for the installation and MDEQ permitting of a new storm sewer system and outlet. Cost estimates were developed using Michigan Engineer Resource Library (MERL) and critical paths using Microsoft Project. D&A developed construction staging plans and maintained traffic special provision in compliance with MDOT and MMUTCD standards and specifications.
