Civil-Engineering

Story

AmericInn is a franchised hotel with over 225 locations within 23 states. AmericInn decided to pursue a site in Greenville, a small City approximately 30-miles north of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The site is located between the downtown area of the City of Greenville and US-131 for accessibility and a visual presence. Driesenga & Associates, Inc. was contacted by AmericInn to utilize the experience gained from an adjacent site. D&A performed complete geotechnical engineering and soils investigation, storm sewer and grading, obtaining of construction related permits, coordinated easements and description, provided construction materials testing and construction staking. The location of the site necessitated working with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Montcalm County Drain Commission (MCDC) to acquire approval for the drainage from the site. In addition, an as-built plan was required upon completion of the construction of the detention basin to ensure the basin was constructed to the required size. D&A also worked with MDOT and the MCDC to acquire a drive permit and the soil erosion and sediment control permit.
