Loose Leaf Lofts

Grand Rapids, Michigan

Story

Grand Rapids, MI – (May 22, 2008) A bold new look for the corner of Wealthy and Commerce, the tall red-brick complex of Loose Leaf Lofts has finished its transformation. Fryling Construction is proud to announce the completion of the renovation and addition of the old 333 Commerce building.

Originally built during WWI to produce military uniforms, the building got its name from its long running tenant of the Loose Leaf Printing Company. Infinity Companies LCC, a Lansing based company, hired Fryling to renovate the previous three-story 18,000 square foot industrial warehouse and build an additional four-story 15,000 square foot connection on the adjacent lots. As a design/build project, Fryling’s in-house architects took the historic site’s original exterior features and incorporated them into the design of the new addition. The building’s design blends a clean, modern, and urban style with historic elements to fit in with the neighboring structures.

Loose Leaf Lofts features 34 market-rate apartments of various layouts and a commercial space that will house a coffee shop, diner, and a small market open to the public. There will also be 2,000 square feet of retail space available.  Other features also include a small courtyard out front and a glass atrium with deck on the roof of the older building, providing space for cookout gatherings for its future tenants. The urban design of Loose Leaf is geared toward young and aspiring professionals with 14 apartments already reserved for Douglas J Aveda Institute students.
