Granger Medical Office Building

Story

Wolverine completed a new, 30,000 square foot medical office building in Byron Center, MI.

The building was constructed as part of Metro Health Village, a 170-acre “green” development being constructed in conjunction with the new Metropolitan Hospital. In keeping with the goal of the development to be environmentally responsible, the building was designed by BETA Design of Grand Rapids to meet the requirements for LEED certification from the US Green Building Council.

A variety of sustainable techniques and materials were used in designing this building from inclusion of windows and a skylight for day lighting and an optimized energy performance HVAC system to the use of certified wood for the structure and specified use of items with recycled content.

Efforts were also made to attain a high level of indoor environmental quality with the use of low-emitting materials and chemical control. Wolverine Building Group added to the sustainable efforts throughout the construction process with waste management procedures.

“In addition to the sustainable techniques used in the design, we assisted the Granger Group in pre-purchasing and expedited key components to the site to obtain a compressed construction schedule,” said Curt Mulder, Project Manager for Wolverine Building Group.

The main tenant of the building is Michigan Obstetrics & Gynecology, also co-owner of the building along with the Granger Group. Moving into this building, Michigan Obstetrics & Gynecology relocated its Grandville practice to be closer to the new hospital.
