The Emergency Department was constructed between the existing hospital and the physician’s office building with a new connector corridor joining all three buildings. To protect air quality and prevent infection control, Triangle constructed vertical extensions for the air intakes. The intake towers were 20 to 60 feet above grade and enabled a safe and clean flow of air into the hospital during construction.

The construction of the new Emergency Department was directly adjacent to the hospital’s existing operating rooms. The operating rooms maintained 24/7 service throughout construction due to Triangle’s ability to control noise and vibration, while maintaining an aggressive construction schedule. The campus now provides services ranging from minor injuries to trauma surgery.
