Fremont Public Schools :: Fremont High School

Fremont, Michigan

Construction-Management

Story

The new 192,000 sq ft senior high school in Fremont, Michigan is a replacement for a 85-year-old high school building. The high school facility is located near Fremont Middle School and athletic stadium, and the Newaygo County Fairgrounds.

The building is designed with sustainable features such as geothermal heating and cooling systems. During the design process, special attention was given to the surrounding wetland environment on the 40-acre site. Site development moved 140,000 cubic yards of material, walks of 60,000 sq ft, and paving of 350,000 sq ft.

The school’s new agricultural center capitalizes on its setting by offering classes in landscaping, animal husbandry, wildlife studies and agriculture.

Building amenities include two gymnasiums (competition and auxiliary), a multi-purpose cafeteria, a full-service kitchen and servery, and a media center.

Technology-rich classrooms and laboratory spaces that emphasize critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving are featured throughout the new school.
