Sandoz Pharmaceuticals

Swanson Rink has been providing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for new facility and renovation designs for Sandoz laboratory, office, and warehouse facilities for over two years. Our mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects with Sandoz include:
Bulk Fluid Bed/ Granulator Addition
This project included HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and utility (process piping) design for a 4,400 square foot addition to the existing facility. The new addition houses a fluid bed granulator manufactured by Glatt to be used for the production of pharmaceuticals and a clean Wash Bay. All production rooms were designed to class 10,000 standards to ensure the class 100,000 criteria were met.

Oxygen Sensor Study
This defined the scope of work and expected construction costs to purchase and install oxygen detectors, oxygen monitors, and nitrogen piping as required. These items are for an oxygen monitoring system for 7 to 10 labs, which utilizes alcohol in the process applications.

Oxygen Sensors and Nitrogen Piping Additions
Swanson Rink provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the addition of Oxygen Sensors and Nitrogen Piping for seven rooms at the Sandoz facility. The objective of this project was to create a warning system that will alert the staff that the level of oxygen has dropped or is deficient in the designated work space.

Plant Air Expansion
Swanson Rinks engineering services for this project consisted of completing the "utility air" system connection points with respect to the revisions in compressed air piping that were currently underway with the oil free air compressor upgrade project. The oil free project eliminated all but one existing 100 hp air compressor. New compressed air piping and three new oil free compressors were added to the facility as part of this project.

Waste Treatment Room
Swanson Rink designed the HVAC and plumbing systems for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Chemical Storage and waste water chemical neutralization area. The project consisted of a substantial upgrade and replacement of the existing wastewater pre-treatment system.

CATOX Catalytic Oxidizer Upgrade
Swanson Rink provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the maintenance upgrade of the CATOX catalytic oxidizer located on the north side of the Broomfield facility. Swanson Rink created a new standard operating procedure (SOP) for air sampling to ensure compliance with the current EPA regulations. The project also consisted of specifying locations for the extension of a natural gas vent line and a flame arrestor, automation of the CATOX bypass ducting system.

North Stability Lab HVAC Improvements
This project consisted of replacing the existing HVAC unit and control interface that served the Sandoz North Stability Lab. Specifications for a new unit with possible duct modifications as well as mechanical and electrical design drawings suitable for permit and construction were provided to ensure that the lab room temperatures and humidity levels would meet Sandoz standards.

Gruenberg Ovens Design Review
Swanson Rink provided a technical review of the proposed modifications to the Gruenberg Ovens at the Sandoz facility. This project involved 18 Dryer Ovens and control of condensation relative to the cooling coil in the self-contained ventilation units for each oven.
