BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEM ENGINEERING

McCarran International Airport

Swanson Rink provided design for McCarran International Airport's Baggage Handling systems in Terminals 1 & 2 and a remote baggage, early check-in facility. The new baggage handling systems combine airline ticket counters feeding six separate screening matricies utilizing 42 L3 Xaminer 6000 EDS scanners and are state-of-art fully automated in-line EDS systems based on the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.

Swanson Rink also provided controls design for a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) bag tracking system. Las Vegas/McCarran will be the first major U.S. airport to track every outbound checked bag in the baggage handling system (BHS) via the RFID system.
