Denver School of Science and Technology

plumbing-engineering

Story

Swanson Rink is providing mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, telecommunications, audio video, and security engineering services as part of a design build team for this 64,257 square foot, 400-student charter school.

The primary goal of the design-build team is to provide an innovative yet cost-effective building design that fosters a hands-on 21st century approach to teaching mathematics, science, and technology.

The mechanical system designed for the school, in conjunction with improved envelop performance, lighting control options, and control strategies, allowed this school to beat the ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-1989 model by approximately 40%. This results in a sizable demand side energy management rebate from Xcel Energies Colorado.
