Greenleaf Trust Building

Kalamazoo, Michigan

Alarm-Systems-Design/Build

Story

The Greenleaf Building Renovations consisted of a 4 floor renovation of the old Kalamazoo YWCA. The renovation re-used many existing walls with complete mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection system upgrades. Building finishes included rosewood wall panels, doors and frames. Stone tile was used for the main entrance, and nearly 100 different custom light fixtures highlighted the building's finishes. Some of the most significant challenges were faced towards the end of the project when completion of the upper 3 floors had to take place simultaneously while Greenleaf Trust staff began utilizing the Garden Level for their Operations Department. Interior construction was also challenging with limited space on-site due to fall re-construction of the site parking area and sidewalks. Protecting the rosewood finishes from not only potential construction damage, but also maintaining a consistent building temperature and humidity level as a further means of protecting the rosewood finishes, while construction of the building mechanical system was being completed, were also challenging factors faced by the project team.
