Talsma Furniture- Hudsonville

Hudsonville, Michigan

Architectural

Story

The latest in-fill project is located on the southeast corner of the existing building, connecting to an existing pre-engineered metal building to the west and an existing concrete block building to the north. An extensive parking lot area was also added, doubling the existing parking. The main entry of the store was moved to this addition. In addition to a 7,266 s.f. showroom, the project included staff break room and toilets, and corporate offices located on a mezzanine level. The exterior of the building utilizes materials and colors from the existing building as well as Talsma's newest store located in Holland, Michigan. These materials were combined with natural stone salvaged from the owner's parents house which was demolished to make room for the addition. Prior to this latest addition Omega designed a link connection between the original showroom and a storage building previously used for discount furniture sales. This link and adjacent parking lot provided the main entrance to the store. With an emphasis toward economy, the entry was designed with an arched colonnade and brightly painted wall accents designed to entice shoppers in from the busy roadway.
