Project: Bathroom Renovation

Continuing to set new standards of professionalism, 81 remodeling companies from across the United States were honored at the fifteenth annual Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence on June 11th at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta during the Southern Building Show.

Judged by editors and writers of Better Homes & Gardens, Woman’s Day, Southern Living and Houseplans.com, the winners were selected from over 526 entries. The entries were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.

The client’s objective was to bring in natural light, while achieving the best use of space and increasing storage capacity.

Photographs of the client’s travels were the inspiration for this contemporary lower level bathroom.  Essential bathroom storage space abounds underneath the stairs with the custom hickory cabinetry.  Plenty of natural light flows into the room thru the opaque glass window of the shower.  One wall of the shower is back lit with fluorescent lights, creating a softer mood.  These elements, in conjunction with the combination of tile, tempered glass, and glass tiles create a sanctuary that is the shower.  The glass pedestal vessel bowl sink reflects the European flair the homeowners desired.  This bathroom is one of a kind!

Project: 50+ Renovation

Morris Builders, Inc. recently was named a Silver winner in the 2009 Best of 50+ Housing Awards, for Best Renovated Housing category. Presented by the National Association of Home Builders’ 50+ Housing Council, the Best of 50+ Housing Awards is the premier design and marketing competition for the seniors housing industry.

The remodeled space features wider doorways, a wide hallway, a pleasant bedroom with bay window and hardwood floors, a walk in pantry off of the kitchen, laundry and mudroom area and a handicap accessible bathroom.  There is also a separate front entry, back entry to the yard and pool area and a cement wheelchair ramp leading into the garage.   These elements in conjunction with the previously remodeled kitchen and living room areas will provide the homeowner a comfortable place to enjoy well into her golden years.
