US Citizenship and Immigration Services

Story

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services regional facility processes individuals seeking political asylum. The project was funded through the fees paid by the clients. Approximately 100 individuals arrive at the site each day.

Security is a primary concern. To that end, all individuals entering the space must pass through a magnetometer and belongings must pass through an x-ray machine. The entry was designed to be welcoming, with curves in the millwork, at the ceiling, and at some of the walls added to soften the space. Finishes are warm earth tones throughout the space.

LEED CI certification is a requirement of the lease and we expect to achieve that goal. The client waiting area, virtually all offices, and workstations enjoy natural daylight and extended views of the city.
