Star of David Cemetery – Bailey Gardens :: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Architectural-Planning

Story

Located in Broward County, Star of David is convenient to the Jewish and non-sectarian communities, of North Dade, Broward and South Palm Beach areas. The cemetery offers a variety of burial choices on 52 acres of landscaped gardens, mausoleums and individual family estates for both Jewish and non-sectarian groups. With the development of the 30.8 acre Bailey Gardens and Star of David Cemetery expansion, the gardens will continue this tradition. The design will create dedicated burial areas for each ethnic group, yet retain a cohesive aesthetic appearance that will be visibly transparent to the cemetery visitor.

This master plan addresses the development of the greater variety of build options while maximizing higher land utilization and marketability. The new 31 acre development addresses the long-term planning needs for the cemetery to incorporate a greater variety of burial inventory including garden mausoleum, private estates, premium family estates section, garden features and non-sectarian garden feature.

The greatest challenge and most critical goal is to have the cemetery perception as two distinct areas, yet be visually cohesive as one. Although primarily marketed to the Jewish public, the surrounding area demographics have begun to change.
