Hillside Memorial Park :: Culver City, California

Story

Set in an old maintenance yard and spoils area within the cemetery, the new 2,800-crypt mausoleum and 5,500 lawn crypt garden for Hillside Memorial Park takes advantage of the last remaining 2.25 acre undeveloped portion of this landmark cemetery property.  Occupying such a prominent spot in the cemetery, the mausoleum was designed to make a statement as the cemetery's flagship for the new millennium.  The new building is designed to be “neighborhood friendly” to the surrounding community while also complementing the two existing garden mausoleums within the cemetery.  Vehicular and pedestrian access to the site was generated from the perimeter road system at four different locations and elevations.  The maintenance facility was old and obstructing future development. As part of the initial phase, a new maintenance building and yard was constructed nearby.
