Accident Fund Insurance Company of America

Architectural

Story

MAYOTTEgroup Architects is currently working for Accident Fund Insurance Company of America as a consultant on their New National Headquarters Project, which is the conversion of the former Board of Water and Light, Ottawa Street Station into their Headquarters.

MAYOTTEgroup worked with Accident Fund on the phased renovation and reconfiguration of their Headquarters in downtown Lansing. MAYOTTEgroup assisted the client in developing a phasing plan, which recognized opportunities for phasing that would minimize disruption to the business units. Additionally, our firm has provided design services for the renovation of 30,000 square feet of swing space in the Landmark Building in downtown Lansing, as well as lease space in Southfield.

Other projects include the design of a new cafeteria, courtyard and connector to the new City of Lansing parking ramp, generator addition, data center expansion, and building aging study.

In addition to the recent work, the previous generation of our firm was responsible for the design of the 10-story headquarters facility. The ten-story Accident Fund building is actually an addition to the original three-story facility. Conceived and constructed to satisfy both current and future space needs of the Accident Fund, the building is a significant contribution to the skyline of Michigan’s Capital City. Using very progressive materials and systems for the time of design and construction, the Accident Fund made use of access floor and demountable walls. Both of these products have allowed the company to respond to the changing demands of their organization for nearly 20 years.
