Story

This is the first new academic building in the last 40 years on the campus and Saint Leo University has entrusted Lunz Prebor Fowler Architects with the programming and design of this 45,000 square foot, four story building. The project embraces the University’s core values of excellence, community, personal development, respect, integrity and responsible stewardship by relating them back to the spaces the architecture creates.

The building embraces the pedagogies of collaborative education and distance learning by creating diverse learning spaces. The building provides SLU with classrooms, seminar rooms, and executive lecture hall all with integrated technology providing cutting edge and state of the art facilities. Creating enlarged corridors that the formal learning spaces are arranged around provide a variety of small areas for spontaneous meetings between the students and faculty is another key element to the building. These informal spaces to gather and share ideas increase receptiveness and promotes free exchange. The goal for the interiors is to highlight the availability of the technology remaining respectful to the traditional nature of the campus while placing emphasis on information exchange and student/faculty interaction.

Slated to be completed for Fall 2011, the New School of Business is planned to be a minimum of LEED Silver certification by USGBC.
