Story

Waterford Place is an independent retirement community located in Jenison, a suburb of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Kent Companies performed the site concrete on this project for Christman/Elzinga & Volkers in a joint venture.  The job consists of approximately 3000 feet of curb and gutter, 28,000 square feet of sidewalks and architectural sidewalks, and 5800 square feet of colored, and colored/stamped concrete walks with architectural banding.  The initial infrastructure work started in August 2008 and the last of the site concrete was completed in August 2009.  The project used a nice mix of standard gray concrete, integrally colored concrete, architectural finishes and stamping to achieve an end project that is very pleasing to the eye and serves the community well.

Kent Companies also performed all of the building concrete for this large facility, which included a single-level parking garage.  Three-foot thick footing pads and an extensive network of strip footings supported the four-story structure.  Topping slabs were installed over precast planks in the parking garage and all four levels of the residential living spaces.  In total, nearly 5,000 cubic yards of concrete were installed in the building.
