Gerald R Ford International Airport

Controls-Design/Build

Story

The DDC System installed in the Gerald R Ford Airport is the LonMark Certified TAC Vista system. This expansion and renovation included an all new chiller and boiler plant new VAV air handling units, VAV zone controllers, Constant Volume air handling units and Multi-zone AHU's. The DDC system is a TAC Xenta and TAC Vista system which incorporates the LonWorks open protocol technology throughout the entire system.

The York chillers have a LonTalk interface to seamlessly pass information and control variables to the  TAC System for optimizing the chiller plant and monitoring system performance at the TAC Vista front end.

The new Kewanee boilers also have TAC LonWorks management modules to optimize the boiler plant and perform burner management duties.

For IAQ control and monitoring the system calculates the CFM of fresh air entering the facility. Fresh air is then scrubbed through charcoal filters for removal of exterior airport fume odors. Information from these filters is fed through the  programmable TAC LonWorks network to the two TAC Vista front end PC's for alarm handling and management.

The TAC Vista central system work stations handle all alarms, data log reporting, and custom executive reports. The TAC Vista graphics contain all control engineering documents and equipment data sheets for ease of use by maintenance technicians and operating engineers.
