RO- Heating / Compressor-Cooling project :: Building expansion - utilities upgrade

Project manager/design

Story

This project consisted of a new compressed air system as well as new water treatment equipment for a recent building expansion. What makes this project unique is what the creative team surrounding Gentex came up with. These 2 systems were designed to enhance the performance of one another, saving valuable resources, energy, and production costs. This was achieved by collecting reject and backwash water from the water treatment equipment and redistributing it to the compressed air system as cooling water. This scenario found a secondary purpose for what was otherwise useless wastewater. The heat generated from the compressors was then used to warm the purified water being sent to production. This piece of the puzzle saves energy and production time at the point of use. During the installation there were provisions built in to allow for a future processes to utilize the reject water creating a third use as a potential lubricant before being sent to drain.
