Monacrh Beverage Headquarters & Distribution Center Completed

As a crucial member of the construction team, Gaylor’s design/build electrical engineering staff formulated an efficient power distribution system for Monarch’s 530,000 square foot corporate home putting in 15,672 man-hours from start to finish.

Electricians installed 9,000 amps at 480 volts in three phases, an 800 KW emergency generator with automatic transfer switches, 1,866 lighting fixtures, 45 dock doors with truck restraints, levelers and dock lights, 70 outlets for forklift battery charging as well as power connections to 26 roof top air conditioning units.

Unique specifications were associated with the Vertique install and truck maintenance facility.  The automated conveyor system required 110 duplex receptacles within the high-tech machinery to provide control power. The 20,000 square foot garage, housing wash and mechanic bays as well as a fueling island, was rated Class 1 Division 1 Hazardous Locations mandating safety standards to prevent fire or explosions.

Multiple economical options were implemented during construction such as replacing traditional conduit and wire with Metal Clad aluminum cable and using aluminum conductors for all feeders rated 60 amps and above.

Project criteria called for compliance with US Green Building Council and LEED prerequisites.  In order to meet these energy saving conditions, the distribution’s lighting design featured skylights allowing natural illumination and high bay fluorescent lighting fixtures each with six T5 high output lamps and individual motion detectors to control light use. Energy output throughout the facility is monitored by a centralized system that picks specific loads turning power off as needed.

Each day, this world-class beverage operation transports more than 64,000 cases of beer and wine to 5,000 retail vendors throughout Indiana.

Finished work for ESSROC

Posted by: Gaylor Inc. | Sep, 23rd

Project: ESSROC

Gaylor managed the massive ESSROC construction job by keeping a multi-functioning schedule consisting of more than 2000 items and a critical action log detailing multiple time-sensitive tasks.

Providing power and controls for a new cement mining and manufacturing facility was conducted in 12 phases preserving production from one kiln line to another while maintaining the same output.

Due to challenging site logistics for the 849-acre plant, material procurement was well planned from the start utilizing large initial buyouts and strategic release for delivery.

A jobsite specific organizational chart coordinated 280 personnel, including150 local electricians, in two shifts seven days a week. Abiding by Mine Safety and Health Administration practices, every worker was thoroughly trained by Gaylor staff prior to stepping foot on site.

ESSROC, the fifth largest cement fabricator in the world, produces more than 6.5 million metric tons of cement per year for use in the construction industry.  As the primary employer in Berkeley County, the upgraded high-tech dry production factory produces 2 million metric tons of cement annually.
