West Hamptons

Grand Rapids, Michigan

Civil-Engineering

Story

The West Hamptons residential PUD development is located on the northeast side of Grand Rapids, MI. The project included the addition of 59 units by continuing access and utilities from the previously completed Phase 1 portion of the community. Site development involved extending approximately 3,700 feet of private bituminous roadway, 2,500 feet of public sanitary sewer, 2,500 feet of private storm sewer and 3,200 feet of public water main including a 330 foot bore and jack under Interstate 96. Driesenga & Associates, Inc. (D&A) provided services from project initiation through construction completion. Through the feasibility portion of the project, D&A completed geotechnical engineering with soils investigation and an environmental site assessment. After it was determined that the soils were acceptable for building and the environmental items were addressed, the project moved forward through the design. Civil engineering design and drawings were prepared and submitted to acquire the appropriate agency and municipal approvals. Approvals included the City of Grand Rapids and MDEQ sanitary sewer and water main construction permits, an MDOT bore and jack permit, and Kent County Road Commission soil erosion control permit. During construction D&A completed the construction staking, materials testing, and continued through the completion of the site condominium documents and survey monumentation.
